Mid – Summer’s Eve (6/19/09)

The length of days reaches its apogee. It is now mid-summer’s eve. On the Aland Islands the evening is one of festivals and games, as they bring back the pagan rituals of their forefathers.

In celebration of this, we instituted the Apricot Run. The rules to Apricot Run are quite simple. One person runs down the field; three others throw rotting apricots at them. There is some sort of elaborate point system that was instituted, but I understood it not.

Florian won the first round; Damien the second.

As night falls, the girls went out into the fields collecting flowers. According to Aland tradition, the girls are to collect seven different flowers and place them under the pillows. At night, they will dream of their future husbands.

I was informed that this didn’t really work.
